A Brampton man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon following a protest outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir on The Gore Road earlier this week.

Three people have now been charged and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a social media post condemning what Canadian law enforcement call demonstrations under investigation for alleged “acts of unlawfulness” that first began outside a Hindu temple in Ontario on Sunday.

Police say they have arrested and charged another person following tense and sometimes violent protests at a Hindu temple in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police responded to a trespassing complaint during a protest at the Hindu Sabba Temple on The Gore Road in Brampton on November 3 at approximately 12:00 pm. The protest, which quickly escalated,

The Canada Police said the officer was not at fault, saying he “acted within the lawful execution of his duties".

According to the videos of the incident on social media, an officer allegedly engaged physically with a protestor at the Brampton Hindu Temple.

Following an investigation, it was determined that the officer involved was attempting to disarm an individual who had refused to surrender their weapon and became confrontational
